About

The inspiration for PacketRancher.com came the same way most other blogs come to be.  A dearth of information the author feels should be aggregated in one place and a feeling others might want to read this stuff too.  The majority of blogs written by network engineers are highly technical with configuration snippets and citations of protocol specifications like RFCs.  The aim of PacketRancher.com is to be a little more general with industry news, opinions, recommendations of cool tools then maybe… MAYBE a few config snippets here and there.  It’s purpose is to make a place for those who love their job as a network engineer but don’t necessarily always want to be bombarded by nuts and bolts with every blog post.  We’ll try to keep it simple and light because, I mean, isn’t that why we burn a few minutes of our time on these sites anyway?   To avoid starting that next project?  A need to look busy researching important information pertinent to your industry?  A break before that next phone call from someone screaming about a network on fire?

I hope you enjoy it.
